First of all, if you made to this post, I am so grateful and thank you for spending time to read my silly journey but this is one hell of an experience and I want to share with you, with all the crypto people out there so you could also getting start your “Near” journey and be inspired.
About myself, My name is Bailey Vu. I am a 27 years old Data Analysis that based in the UK. Known Bitcoin and cryptos since 2017 but didn’t pay much attention until 2020. I am a token holder of Near since Early 2021, an active moderator for Near Ecosystem and a Host/Podcaster for The Near Show with Bailey12. Basically, I am Near’s b*tch.
1st chapter: A token Holder and A newbie in crypto
When Covid started in early 2020, I do believe most people got affected by the pandemic. Most people lost their jobs, Lots of people infected with Covid and got their life turned around, some of us even lost our loved ones (May they rest in peace)… No matter how strong you are, Covid did changed things around in a way we are not expected. And I am no exception from this tragedy. I lost my job, many of my friends and families got Covid and things in my life just start to falling like dominos. Trust me, I had been through many tough times in my life but this one has the best of me and for the moment there, I thought I lost everything that I tried so hard to built before. It was the most difficult time for me both financial and spiritual.
And as always, I told myself many times: “when you hit the bottom, the only way is up”. Therefor I started my journey to get everything back up on my feet again. Start with looking up for jobs, improving my financial, co-live with Covid. On that way, it is coincidentally line up with crypto’s 2020 alt season so bitcoin and crypto caught my eyes in middle 2020. But as same as many of you guys, my thoughts of crypto is just like a place to make a quick-bucks and quick money , get in and get out fast, just only in for getting money from this field. So I started to learning how to trade (analyse candle sticks, trading leverage and other stuffs) but after all, I still failed because I lost all the amount I invested in the first place (it is a small amount). I pull myself up and try a second time, the result is the same (it is a medium size amount). Hence, I realise don’t have what it takes to be the trader like this so I gave up. However, the most lucky thing has happened to me — My partner told me that she got a friend who works for GFS (A crypto venture in Vietnam) and they are investing in Near Protocol. After watching, reading and more reading and watching videos, articles about Near Protocol, I spent my last amount of money to buy $Near and start to HODL.
2nd chapter: The Journey that widen my own eyes
My first buy-out on $Near is on early March of 2021, I started to join Near’s Telegram group. At that time, I also found a new job and times for crypto isn’t much like earlier. My assumption for this project is just like another project: “Community doesn’t active much, full of toxicity and raging trader with why dump and why pump message and mostly like will end up like Cardano holder (Sorry, no offense intended)” . But I was so so wrong. Everyday, I spent like 1–2 hours on the Near telegram chat and time by time, there was time I spent like a whole day just to chat with people on Near. The first friend I made in this journey is Rim Berjack. She was literally on the chat all the d*mn time, every time I need help with anything from Near Wallet problems to a friend to chat with, she is there with full of energy and positivity. Then the day that we all remember — 19th of May when the whole crypto space took a hit and the price value went down significantly. However, the strange thing is all over my mind — I don’t scare of this anymore even my portfolio is divided by 2 times. Rather than watching all those dumping, I focused myself on the Near Ecosystem like looking for a way to earn more $Near around the Eco, chitchat on Near Telegram and helping newcomer, doing Russian Rollin Dice game that I never won once (Rim Berjack lost the amount of Near that equal to her rent now), some dramas within the Eco, some ups and downs. And just like that, we went through market’s most fearsome moment in this year. Luckily, I made some friends during this time like @KriptoRaptor, @benz_near or other degens in Near. I have to thank all of them for creating such an amazing time for me with their hospitality, positivity and also widening my eyes on how big this crypto in general and Near in specifics could be. I don’t know when I turned into a degen like them but I have deepen myself with so much knowledge of Near, both technology and understanding the people of Near. Things just keep coming naturally.
3rd Chapter: A story that will keep writing
By October, I had made a really big decision when I cut down my full time job to a part time job because I earned way way much than I ever made before and start my new chapter on this journey — A journey that I contribute something for Near, building it and inspire others to do the same. That’s why I came up with the idea of “The Near Show with Bailey12” — A podcast that connect Near Team (everyone who contributes their everything to build this EcoSystem) with the Community. After the first three episodes, the success of the show went out of my expectation. And more are yet to come.
I am so excited for the new journey with new friends to build up this Nearverse so stay tune. In the next post, I will share with you about my podcast, what it needs and what it takes to make ones.
